10 years TiNRS
Just like Superbooth, this year we are a decade into modular synthesizers.
This coincides with our 10 year wedding anniversary. After our honeymoon – Boom festival in Portugal, Bath in the UK and CERN in Geneve – we committed ourselves to this new adventure. Ever since then Stijn has worked full-time on all the synthesizing and I have been part-time managing things.
At Superbooth 2017 we came out with our first module Tuesday and the following year we introduced our Wobbler. A solid start as we have made a next generation of both these modules and in the past decade we have made many more modules. In chronological order:

In the middle of all these modules we also created the Fenix IV modular synthesizer system that we worked on for four years and released in 2021. Two years of this process was filled with experimenting and designing and it took another two years to make 100 units (+ 5 beta).
With CLUBSYNTH we have also organised a dancefloor with a stage for LIVE modular synthesizing since 2022. Starting with a big heap of synths played all at once and later morphing into a full-night with one hour sets by great artists. All in the artist village Ruigoord where the dancefloor is literally a church. We organise, support, perform ourselves and have a ball. This year CLUBSYNTH is about to morph into something else yet again.

There is a real synth manufacturing community and we often share designs, advice and contacts with each other. Our ideas and schematics are in many other modules and in our modules there is code, schematics and support of many other synth makers. We also try to support each other in the sourcing of components, finding reliable factories to work with and how to deal with taxes and tariffs. We are really happy that we have found our people.
FUTURE TiNRS
Everything started with the BigFish synthesizer a project that Stijn has been working on long before This is Not Rocket Science and has always continued to work on. All the ideas, designs and manufacturing we have experimented with and everything you have seen in the past decade has always flowed in and out of the BigFish dream. It’s all connected.
We hope to have this dream move into reality in 2027.
Part of the BigFish dream is our Bink keybed. We started working on this together with Binkhorst Creations in 2022 and are aiming to start production very soon. We should be selling this high-end full-touch insanely responsive keybed to other manufacturers before the end of this year and we can’t wait to see what they will make with it.
